NEC Selects 3Dlabs Oxygen GMX for Express Workstation

Oxygen GMX Delivers Professional 3D Geometry and Rasterization
Acceleration Integrated Into a Single AGP Slot

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- 3Dlabs®, Inc. (Nasdaq: TDDDF - news) today announced that NEC Corporation (Nasdaq: NIPNY
- news) has chosen the award-winning 3Dlabs Oxygen™ GMX graphics accelerator for the NEC Express Windows NT (R) workstation. Featuring
Intel® Pentium® II Xeon™ processors, the NEC Express workstation line includes products ranging from entry-level to high-end systems that deliver
outstanding graphics performance needed by most complex design and engineering 3D applications. Oxygen GMX will be offered in the entire series
of NEC Express workstations.

''Advanced graphics boards are an important element in the rapidly-growing Windows NT workstation market, driven by the excellent
price-performance of Windows NT systems, as well as the increasing numbers of sophisticated CAD and computer graphics applications,'' said
Yoshiaki Tsuda, general manager of workstation and servers division at NEC Corporation. ''The combination of Oxygen GMX's integrated geometry
acceleration, well-rounded application performance, and NEC's advanced system design will enable graphics professionals to manipulate the most
complex 3D models and scenes with ease and increase productivity.''

''We are proud that NEC has chosen to extend their range of 3Dlabs workstation graphics solutions, and the Oxygen GMX is a strong complement to
their PERMEDIA® 2-based entry level systems,'' said Neil Trevett, vice president of workstation products at 3Dlabs. ''Our workstation business unit

Oxygen GMX Information

Oxygen GMX is the latest high-end member of the Oxygen family of 3D graphics accelerator boards for Windows NT workstations. Based on
3Dlabs' GLINT® GMX 2000 chipset, Oxygen GMX accelerates the complete OpenGL® geometry, lighting, and rasterization pipeline on a single
AGP card. The on-board GLINT Gamma geometry processor provides 2Gflops of processing power to boost the interactivity of complex models and
scenes by up to 400%.

Oxygen GMX has a peak geometry throughput of 3.3 million lit, transformed polygons-per-second (50% backface removed, Gouraud-shaded, 32-bit
color and Z) and delivers up to 66 million mip-mapped pixels-per-second fill rates. Oxygen GMX performs high-precision, sub-pixel accurate
rendering, including full 32-bit Z-buffering. With 96MB of on-board memory Oxygen GMX supports true-color high-resolution displays up to 1920 x
1080 with over 24MB of local texture storage. Oxygen GMX has been shipping since September 1998.
