I wasn't expecting the stock to blast off into outer space today, so I was happy with the small rise. I decided as a learning experience to watch the trading last Friday and today just to see what daily moves/trading is like. Friday was fairly slow and it looked like people were unwilling to step up and buy and that people were unwilling to sell. Just what you'd expect right before news which might be great but also might not be great. Today there were not many large blocks purchased. There seemed to be a large overhang of shares offered at 15 1/2. Either well capitalized shorts were trying to keep the price down, or a big purchaser of the stock at a much lower range was trying to take advantage of the good news to sell. There didn't seem to be any shares being dumped on the market, just cautious buying.

Since I've often seen stocks fall once the expected good news is released, it was satisfying to see the rise today. COMDEX is causing a virtual tidal wave of press releases for the analysts to wade through. I wouldn't expect any action from them until late this week to early next week.

The OEM announcements were OK. They're somewhat small, but the British company is a good pick-up. Gateway is Tier 1 and I suspect that Compaq will be around soon enough. The WHQL announcement removes one worry from the market.

With the card being available Q2 1999, it is quite possible that we'll be seeing some financial benefit for V3 in Q1 next year.

It appears that the new Trident chip will be very low-end - according the the CNNfn article I read.
