Sheesh that shows what I know, I thought ADSL was becoming available. Could have sworn a friend had it in San Jose, he said it was a better alternative to ISDN. he works at Cisco, so who knows he could have been talking about some future technology....

ADSL will allow you to DROP a phone line if you wish, as it will allow high speed internet access and simultaneous voice use. The problem with ADSL is current and near future availability (low), and distance restrictions from the central office to your home. Many folks will never be able to use it due to the distance restrictions.
