Re Internet speeds.
I'm in a rural area about 8 miles from a major exchange, my
downloads run about 2400 bps. Informed sources(hehe) tell me that
speed is limited by the number of switches( or nodes) between here and town which cannot be readily changed . Although the phone lines would handle higher speeds, the switches can't(yet).
