Is the game still early or too late?

Definitely not too late in general, but if you ask most people here, I'd hope they'd tell you that you'll be much better off if you understand the companies you invest in: know their competition, and have a pretty good idea of how much you are paying for the growth you expect to see. You'll likely see some of the stocks which have doubled and tripled over the last year undo their winnings over the next year or two.

If you are a beginning investor and want to approach things from the longer-term investment viewpoint (as opposed to day, week, or month trading), there's a lot more to learn at www.fool.com than here (IMHO). Please don't simply mimic their portfolios, or you'll be missing the point of learning how to evaluate stocks for yourself (and opening yourself up to the possibility of some lousy returns based on others' decisions). OTOH, if you want to learn about trading, you'll probably do better to read the proper boards here. Someone else can point you to them. I don't know much about successfully trading your way to building wealth (other than buy low and sell high).
