Jay, I have seen this type of article surface periodically, and I don't know if it's true. It seems that PLAB and DPMI, particularly DPMI, have been investing heavily in new deep submicron photomask facilities.

The article jibes with what I heard in the last DPMI conference call. They do have excess capacity at 0.25, but it is not as bad as the overcapacity at larger geometries. If the semiconductor market is going through a real growth phase and not just a seasonal pattern, then they will find themselves short of 0.25 capacity rather quickly. They've been very conservative with capital spending, because the severity of this downturn put a good scare into them.
