MMV, This has been going on for a long time. The difference is that they are daring to go after big name analysts now. It has been known in the business for the last 15 years or so that if you tell the truth about a co., they will get you. And, if you don't have a big nest egg like Kurlak, that can be intimidating. At Waddell and Reed, we considered it a badge of honor to be cut off or shouted at in analyst or annual meetings. Not kicked out for hitting on the CEO's daughter, as happened to me a time or two (hey, I tripped and fell on top of her <G>), but for putting the heat on. Most firms, buyside and sellside, do not have a commitment to real research any more. Which is why they always get surprised when the SRAM and graphic chip and disk drive markets disappear over night. <G>

This is from the only analyst who is "neutral" on Sepracor. Read especially the note at the bottom: #reply-6444884

M5,

Bear Sterns started some of the golds -- I think ABX was an accumulate and HM a buy. Hang on to those shares a little while longer and don't let this shake you out, OK? <g>
