JT, Christmas Rallies and Other Fairy Tales

Looking at the total gain of the S&P since the beginning of 1987,
December ranks third in best overall contribution as follows:

January 36.4%
May 31.0%
December 28.9%

However, I believe Christmas Rallies are a fiction. The worst trading
month has been August, followed by October. So, after going through
those brutal months, the quiet of December probably seems like a
rally. In fact, December has been a good month, having a loss in only
one year and returning a very pleasant 0-5% in 8 of the 11 years.

I rank order the months in how they did during the year with 1 being
the best and 12 the worst. For the last three years, I computed that
December tied with August as the worst performing month (not as a
percentage but just the worst. It has just been a nice quiet month.
Something tells me this year might be different.

Congrats on your super trades! You earned every dollar! If you get
a chance, I'd like to hear what the percentage gain on your CPQ calls
turned out to be.

Gruetzi J&K:

On out-of-money out-of-century SAP leaps - I'll send you the information in the evening. Dont have it here in my hands. You can try www.Citibank.de if you are in a hurry, but they're not the only one I would target - I really depend more on paper than on the net when it comes to shopping.

Alles Gute
