Like I said a year ago the MSFT relation is negative for ODIS. MSFT has effectively eliminated Objectstore from direct competition with its offerings even though you couldn't say SQl Server, MTS, or even Access directly competes. Objectstore is preempted as an option by MSFT partners shoehorning prospects into MSFT dbs even though Objectstore would be the superior solution. You might think that without the working relation ODIS wouldn't get the deal and would make fewer sales. However, Objectstore is perceived as a captured solution under the current relation, whereas if they were considered to be an alternative competitive solution, a prospect might want to investigate the OO option. This doesn't happen under the MSFT umbrella and it certainly won't happen with MSFT's Java philosophy to PSE. Objectstore is cut off from the possibility of developing longer term visibility for the short run extra license sales. When Goldman goes, so will the MSFT connexion.
