Paul,
RE:"Look for these (Direct X 6.1) to be released along with Katmai in Q1 1999."....

You don't suppose that Intel taking a stake in BeOS had anything to do with Microsofts "possible" willingness to get out a 6.1X that supports Katmai do you. Just a little nudge maybe?

Thanks for your "quess"...we'll keep note of it.

Regards, Jim

Paul:

<<Look for these (Direct X 6.1) to be released along with Katmai in Q1 1999.>>

DirectX 6.1 is already released. There are no KNI instructions in it.
Go to MSFT homesite and download.

<<Of course, the KNI optimizations coupled with Katmai will truly be impressive - well beyond K6-2 performances.>>

In your dream.

<<The Pentium II Optimizations may prove to be more powerful on a Pentium II than 3DNOW Optimized Direct X 6 instructions for the K6-2.>>

Show me one software title that this is true.

Paul,

RE: DX 6.1 & KNI

Paul, I'm telling you this for your own good so don't scream at me. It's a fact (at the present time). The beta (release candidate) for dx 6.1 does NOT include KNI. The RC for DX 6.1 is currently available and looks stable.
