<<It states that all confirmations are available via phone or fax upon request. I am guessing that they mean that the Internet is the preferred method and you can have the other two if you want to. Is this correct?>>

More or less. You can view your account and trades on-line at any time. In addition. when you place a trade, you can choose to have a fax or (recorded) phone call made to you after it is executed. They don't do e-mail confirms.

Trader J relax. Definitely call and speak to them about it. It simply means you can ask for a confirmation to be given to you in three ways, and you choose which way. This confirmation is OVER AND ABOVE the fact that your trade is posted to their system so it will appear both on pcline and on directline and on the website. In other words, you are worrying about something you will not even use.

I do not use ANY confirmations (and based on watching you in SI you wouldn't either) since they are not necessary. Trades are posted to their system so you can see your trade very soon thereafter. For instance, let us say you place a limit order on EX at 17 5/8 and you think it goes through. Go to website, hit "executions" and you will see the trade. Or you can pick up the phone and call directline and enter the part of the menu which allows you to check a position on a given stock and if it says "you are long such and such number of ex shares" you know the trade went off (you can do executions via the phone but if you are active this is a mistake since they are listed one by one and you need to wait).

Confirmations are posted to the system very quickly. If you want a further callback then you can choose how to receive it. Unless you are travelling or some such special reason, it is not necessary.

The important thing is: are trades confirmable by an active trader in a timely manner? The answer is yes. Sure, sometimes there are delays, and Brown is far from perfect, but they do a good job.
