Freedom. Is that anything like poetic license? Some great analogies there, ahhaha. Let's see if your future findings which you alluded to can back up these metaphoric scenarios, when they are flushed out.

BTW, I immediately thought about an optical echo cancellation technique when you mentioned the bi-directionality of two massive flows on a single lambda (if what you called a lane is in fact a wavelength, and not a full strand).

For the uninitiated, echo cancellation allows for full duplex (two way simultaneous) transmission over a single path (usually using two wires, instead of four where telephone lines are concerned). Prior to echo cancellation, four wires (two paths) were required.

Can there be an economical equivalent to an electronic echo canceller in the optical domain? Interested to hear your views on this.
