GENEVA (Reuters) - A huge yellow diamond sold for a record 4.4 million Swiss francs ($3.2 million) to an anonymous Middle East collector Monday, Christie's said. The cushion-shaped stone by Bulgari, which weighs 112.53 carats, was the star lot at an auction that earned 11.2 million Swiss francs ($8.1 million) for Mouna Al-Ayoub, Lebanese former wife of Saudi businessman Nasser Al-Rachid. The jet-setting Al-Ayoub parted with nearly 160 gems and pieces of modern silver to raise cash toward the $17 million cost of refurbishing her yacht Phocea. The 240-foot luxury yacht used to belong to Bernard Tapie, the former French tycoon, soccer boss and cabinet minister found guilty on various counts of fraud. See full story
