Demonstrations are not limited to K.L. however, all of those outside of the city appear to be pretty peacfull. I haven't heard of anything resembling the stuff going on here. If your buddy is married to a Malay Chinese I wouldn't expect him to have any trouble. Most of the trouble has been 'within' the Malay community specifically centered at the Mosques.

I have heard Nothing about Ipoh specifically. If he has concerns about Ipoh, Stitch's wife is from there I believe and could shed additional lite.

George,
As Bernie noted, not to worry about Ipoh. As Ipoh is my wife's home town I should mention the following. It is really a lovely place. The ladies are the prettiest and the food the tastiest. A specialty is the wok fried bean sprouts. I do not know why but the bean sprouts in Ipoh are unbelievably sweet and crisp. The locals say the pretty girls and the bean sprouts all spring from the same source, good water. :)

Best,
Stitch
