AR, I always thought Kaufman was right on the mark as far as fundamentals went. What he didn't anticipate was the ability of the Reagan administration to fool people into thinking a huge national debt load was a good thing. And, to be fair, such backwardization is beyond the realm of economics and more in the realm of prestadigitation. Sometimes I think he got too much press and that made him stick to the parts of his predictions that were wrong instead of adjusting them for what was happening.
