Polymer-lithium rechargable batteries to be mass-produced

As the first battery manufacturer TDI has started massproducing Lithium-Ion Polymer batteries. The monthly output is 200 000 pcs.
The batteries have 600 mAh capacity, it is planned to achieve 800 mAh in the near future. Starting in second half of 99 the monthly output will be increased to 500 000 pcs per month.
Customers for these batteries are 2 mobile phone OEMs from South East Asia, who have launched 2 ultra slim Cellular phones.

It is expected that Japanese battery manufacturers will start producing Li-Ion Polymer batteries in fall 99.
Panasonic as an example presently supplies samples and will start their production in September 99 with a monthly output of 500 000 pcs.
