I expect that to happen, but then everyone will say that the FEDS will lower interest rates in the December meeting and the markets will rally after it shakes off the bad news. These markets will rally on good news and they will rally on bad news, they just 'want' to go higher. I think people would rather 'feel good' than 'feel bad.'

Aparently, the U.S. economy is pretty sound and doesn't really 'need' a rate cut. I think Greenspan is more fearful of inflation and would rather raise rates if he had his choice. The depressed global monetary condition is all that may be keeping the U.S. from heating up at all.
