There was a gap down on 10/01/98, too, and it was filled, but not until nearly a month later -- on 10/27/98.

As for the gap you mentioned, it was preceded by another gap down the day before, at 70 1/2. It's unlikely that this one will be filled soon. Eventually, of course, it will be filled.
