ICG Netcom Expands Roll Out of IP Telephony Service with 70 New U.S. Cities; Company's expanded service now reaches coast-to-coast in 101 U.S. cities

November 24, 1998

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE) Integrated
communications provider ICG Netcom today
announced the second stage of its
aggressive launch of Internet Protocol (IP)
long distance service to 70 new cities
around the country, increasing its total
cities to 101 cities and offering a 5.9 cents
per minute rate to customers.

ICG Netcom's IP long distance service now
serves customers in 101 U.S. cities spanning
22 states, with a year-end goal of 166
cities. This second deployment marks the
first time ICG's customers can make
coast-to-coast 5.9 cent a minute calls on
the company's IP network, which will cover
approximately 90 percent of the long
distance traffic in the United States by the
end of the year.

"This expansion gives our current customers
a larger network calling area and opens the
door for new customers to experience the
benefits of IP calling for the first time," said
J. Shelby Bryan, president and CEO of ICG.
"ICG is in the business of delivering
competitive local and long distance
telephony solutions to our customers.
Through services like IP telephony, we will
continue to fulfill our customer's demands
for enhanced telecommunications services."

ICG Netcom's IP telephony offering will
enable customers to make voice and
facsimile calls. The network, which has been
available in California, Colorado and Ohio
since August, uses state-of-the-art
gateways developed by Cisco Systems.

How IPLD Works

Customers must have Internet access to
open an account and must register any
phone or fax numbers they plan to use with
the service. The account is opened with a
credit card, enabling the customer to use
the service at-will with no set-up or
minimum usage fees. ICG Netcom's IP long
distance service is priced at 5.9 cents per
minute for customers who make calls that
originate and terminate on ICG Netcom's IP
network. Calls made that terminate outside
of ICG's network will be priced at 8.9 cents
per minute. Customers can use the IP
service to access all domestic long distance
phone and facsimile numbers. International
calling capability is planned for later this
year.
