I worked with TDI about 5 years ago. They are a packaging house in Downers Grove, IL. They are a bunch of pretty good guys, but the company is/was not very large. They would pretty much package any brand of cells they could get into whatever configuration the OEM wanted.

Dennis, thats' it, and I found my file It's from Computer Magazine Archive article dated 7/06/98 An associate is looking for the URL and hopefully put it up on the board soon.. The following are fragmented highligthts: "Thomas & Betts to Acquire TDI (Telecommunications Devices), a privately owned manufacterer of bapacks of battery packs for cell phones...etc. High energy Technologies, Inc. an affiliate of TDI included in the transaction, developed a new battery cell technology using Polymer Lithium Ion .
A number of cell phone mfgs i Eurpoe and US and Asia are current;ly testing and TDI is poised to begin production shipments.

This has nagged at me for a while but some one supposedly more knowledgeable than myself discounted it. another post coming shortly by my associate who is posting under my name. He just called me and his article does not seem to be the same one I am paraphrasing fromm Lets see what it is

Here's the URL from another trade pub (Electronic Business News) from 7/8/98:

pubs.cmpnet.com

I'll keep looking for other references.

One interesting about the TDI web site that the Battery Technology now contains the entry:

Lithium Polymer 3.6 volts Rechargeable system, very high energy
density, very low weight,
scalability, flat discharge curve,
newest technology.

It also has a whirling NEW icon.
Anyone know how long this entry has been up?
And, if TDI is a packaging house, who might the manufacturer be?

In addition, the NASA Small Business Inovation Research page has the following listing for HET:

High Energy Technologies, Inc.
2800- Hitchcock Avenue
Downers Grove, IL 65015
Tom Kulawiak 630-769-0749
97-1-19.02-0749 JSC
An Improved Polymer Electrolyte Cell

Looks to be down the street from our friends at TDI!
