Saw this bit of news (to me) in the LOR 10Q:

"On November 5, 1998, Loral acquired 276,000 additional Globalstar partnership interests from DACOM in exchange for 717,600 shares of GTL common stock owned by Loral. The shares of GTL common stock acquired by DACOM are restricted for U.S. securities law purposes. GTL has agreed to promptly file a shelf registration statement covering the resale of these shares."

I thought it was interesting that Lor was able to exchange GTL shares for partnership interests at an attractive discount to the nominal ratio: 2.6 vs 4. This has the effect of slightly upping both LOR's and GSTRF's ownership of GLP; OTH, Dacom must be anxious to unload the GSTRF shares on the market, which could explain some of the recent divergence between GSTRF and LOR.
