Kevin,
RE" 2. Sharpy will be a notebook chip because K7 will be introduced
sooner than the roadmap calls for. The same reasons Intel isn't
putting Dixon on the desktop are the reasons that AMD isn't
putting Sharpy on the desktop."

-----

I repeat...the K7 is a lot closer to production than most think.

Unless the K6-3 can run at higher speeds than the K6-2 I don't see it being rushed to market...

Jim

Kevin - Re: "The same reasons Intel isn't putting Dixon on the

Intel will be introducing the Katmai for the high end Desktop - so the Dixon is slotted for notebooks - until Coppermine replaces it.

Clearly, you have analyzed the information and now understand AMD's predicament with the Sharpy - too big, low yields and late.

Now - you think the K7 will be introduced EARLIER ?

When, Kevin ?

Care to hazard a guess ?

Paul

Kevin,

Re: "There are a couple of explanations:

1) You're right, and Sharpy is delayed because AMD is having problems. Because
it's expensive, it will only be a notebook chip. -or-"

It sounds like the Sharptooth is becoming "toothless" ... Kinda like that
"old guy" down in Florida. <ggg>

Make It So,
