G.Lite (1.5Mbps) DSL service requires a conversion point within 12,000 feet of the end point. The conversion point usually translates to a fiber protocol. You would have to find out from your local provider if they have any intermediate points installed.

hi granola: re: hi speed connections: i am confused, because few days ago rudedog was saying he'd possibly just go to cable for highest reliable speed. therefore, is this a problem in san francisco? i am trying to equip a place there for alternative trading spot. here in alameda, lots of choices because of an industrial park nearby. hope someone else solves all this for me, as i am constantly being cut off from dnai (isp) which is supposed to be technologically right up there. now i understand what rudedog meant when he said that he starts to twitch if his access speeds are not very high. i will call you in a week. thankyou.
