Amazon.comrises,to sell videos, DVD online

NEW YORK, Nov 17 (Reuters) - Shares of Amazon.com Inc.
(Nasdaq:AMZN - news), already the leading online seller of books and
music disc, rose on Tuesday after it said it would also offer movies, both
on video tape and in DVD format.

The Seattle-based company's stock rose 6-1/4 to 132-1/2 in late morning trade on Tuesday.

Amazon.com will offer more than 60,000 theatrical and general-interest videos and more than 2,000 DVDs,
the compact disks designed to play back movies on PCs, much as videotapes play in VCRs.

Amazon.com's video store was launched in time for the holiday shopping season, which experts suggest will
be particularly strong for Internet retailers.

Amazon.com also unveiled its Gift Store, which offers a selection of personal electronics, gadgets, games,
and toys that can be purchased and shipped directly to others.

Shares of Hollywood Entertainment Corp. (Nasdaq:HLYW - news), which operates Internet movie seller
Reel.com, fell 1-5/16 to 15-5/16 on Tuesday.

Reel.com offers 100,000 video tape and 2,300 DVD titles through its Web site.
