From the following article:

zdnet.com

First, a Digital insider who survived the Compaq takeover but, alas, won't be trekking to Vegas dropped Le Chat a line to point out some of the differences between his former employer and his new one. Compaq, the tipster reports, is big on code names--much more so than the Digitalerati were.

For example, Catamaran is the nom de code for the first NT-only Alpha box being developed by Compaq. Until the new box ships next June, the Pfeifferettes will continue to sell Digital-designed Alpha systems under a Compaq label.

Products aren't the only things that get cool names down Houston way: Normandy is the moniker for the megaproject under which management is trying to figure out how the heck Compaq can reach its previously stated goal of $50 billion in revenues by 2001. "Talk about storming the beaches," the Mouser mused.

The interest rate cut benefits DELL tremendously. DELL's valuation resides mainly in its fast growing future free cash-flow, which is worth more at today's $ when interest rate is lower. In fact, all high growth companies deserve higher valuations now.
