Intel has warehouses full of [NICs]! Why does Intel have a warehouse full of the things? Because they are second rate products. End of story.

This is simply not correct. I've used the Intel 82558-based NICs (10/100 Ethernet) extensively, and they're great: cheap, robust, high-performance, low CPU overhead, etc. I have no experience with modern COMS NICs; I imagine they're also good. (I do know the Intel cards compare favorably with cards based on the DEC 21140 chip.)

I'm sure that there are all kinds of good and valid reasons to buy COMS NICs; Intel's cards being "second rate products" is not one of them.

Steve,

I was thinking we need to create a FAQ sheet for dumb *ss questions
that we have to repeat the answer to over and over. The kinds of questions that the mere mention of causes all the new shareholders
who want instant quick money to curse themselves for the biggest
mistake of their lives.

Seriously, though, I'm thinking of a FAQ...create another
thread like the ASNDers have for important COMS news.

Hey, did you see AMZN? what the h*ll? up around 25 pts?
I guess people realize in one day that it's worth 20% more.
