Golly, Elaine, I can't think of a SIMPLER system for this than pulling a chemical off the shelf and dusting/impregnating/coating the reflective triangle. It's simplicity personified. Add to it a really simple light receiver/timer chip, and you've got a system which should add... at least $0.0002 to the price of the disk and maybe $0.005 to the price of the drive. I should hope that Iomega has enough leeway in their manufacturing costs to absorb this.

I really think this thing is great (as if you couldn't tell). Does anybody have any information on the technical specs of this new disk, the phosphor used, something like that? Inquiring minds want to know!
