3Dlabs Oxygen GMX Selected for Dell Precision WorkStations
Oxygen GMX Board Is the New Order-Ready High-End Professional Graphics Option For Dell Precision 610 and 410 WorkStations; Design Win Illustrates 3Dlabs' Technical and Manufacturing Excellence in 3D Technology
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- 3Dlabs®, Inc. (Nasdaq: TDDDF - news) today announced that Dell Computer Corporation (Round Rock, TX) (Nasdaq: DELL - news) has selected the award-winning 3Dlabs Oxygen™ GMX graphics accelerator board as the order-ready high performance, top-of-the-line graphics option in the Dell Precision™ 410 and Dell Precision 610 WorkStations. The highly- integrated geometry and rasterization technology of the Oxygen GMX delivers the required level of cost-effective performance that has enabled Dell to become a price/performance leader in the workstation market.
''The selection of Oxygen GMX by an industry leader such as Dell validates 3Dlabs' decision to enter the graphics board business. The vertical integration of silicon, board and driver engineering development in one company enables 3Dlabs to quickly respond to our customers' needs and align our strategy to meet their long-term goals,'' said Neil Trevett, vice president of workstation products. ''We look forward to a successful alliance with Dell to bring state-of-the-art graphics acceleration technology to the Windows NT® workstation market.''
Oxygen GMX is the latest high-end member of the Oxygen family of 3D graphics accelerator boards for Windows NT workstations. Based on 3Dlabs' GLINT® GMX 2000 chipset, Oxygen GMX accelerates the complete OpenGL® geometry, lighting, and rasterization pipeline on a single AGP card. The on- board GLINT Gamma geometry processor provides 2Gflops of processing power to boost the interactivity of complex models and scenes by up to 400%.
The Oxygen GMX card provides industry-leading performance, including a Viewperf CDRS-03 score of 131 and a Pro/Engineer v19 gBench98 weighted graphics total score of 24 when measured on a Dell Precision 610 WorkStation with a CPU speed of 450MHz.
The Dell Precision 610 can be custom-configured with single or dual 400 or 450 MHz Intel® Pentium® II Xeon™ processors; the Dell Precision 410 can be custom-configured with single or dual 350, 400, or 450MHz Pentium II processors. Both systems feature AGP 2X support for higher data transfer rate needed for graphics-intensive software, including animation, CAD/CAM/CAE, financial modeling, electronic design automation, and digital content creation applications.
Oxygen GMX Technical Specifications
Oxygen GMX has a peak geometry throughput of 3.3 million lit, transformed polygons-per-second (50% backface removed, Gouraud-shaded, 32-bit color and Z) and delivers up to 66 million mip-mapped pixels-per-second fill rates. Oxygen GMX performs high-precision, sub-pixel accurate rendering, including full 32-bit Z-buffering. With 96MB of on-board memory Oxygen GMX supports true- color high-resolution displays up to 1920 x 1080 with over 24MB of available local texture storage. Oxygen GMX has been shipping since September 1998.
