Great, that legitimizes Amazon's strategy even more. Yahoo! and others won't be competition as much as they increase the total propensity to buy things on the Internet.

Go AmazonisAmazinglyUndervalued.com!!! Upward to 330!!! (If it feels good, that's all that matters! - )

If you pointed this out to Randy (TMF) than perhaps he wouldn't be so confused
anymore as to how shopbots will operate profitably 8-}}}

LP,

I feel like I am losing the battle in pointing anything out to anyone. I suppose I could enjoy trying.

lp-

Have you tried this? How do you like it? So far, it's not great (though they certainly have the time and resources to improve it).

I tried three items:

1. The Sun Also Rises (book). I got to manual price comparison, and found a new copy for $7.50 from AllDirect, Inc.

2. Celebrity Skin (Hole CD). Found one offering on the Yahoo store for $14.99 from Tower Records. Comparing prices leads to no data (item not found).

3. Office97. 182 entries (I admit I could have been more specific); again, no automatic price comparison available for this product. I am also unable to add this item to my shopping cart (not sure why).

My summary is that this is not a shopping-bot but rather a huge database of products and prices. Could be good, but it may have to be improved many times to be useful to many people.

The rest of the process looks pretty easy. Of course separate shipping, and the order is placed directly with the vendor(s) through Yahoo's site. I wonder if one can elect to click on the vendor and order the second item from them to save on a shipping charge.

I also wonder if this kind of shopping service will ultimately provide more frustration or more glory (and profits/savings) to the designers and customers.

I guess they go hand-in-hand since Yahoo's profits come from advertising and apparently a cut from the vendor(?).
