Computer distort CPI data - interesting to know how those 65+ cope with such low prices it seems that real world inflation is not dead as many would like us to belive.

For sure housing and food is rampant high in New York area around 7% to 10% year over year.

information-processing costs fell 1.6 percent
in October after slipping 2.4 percent the
previous month. Within that category,
computers and peripheral equipment, such as
modems, declined 1.5 percent in October after
sliding 3.7 percent in September.

So far this year, information processing prices
have dropped 28.9 percent and the price of
computers has plummeted 39.2 percent.

Policy makers use the CPI, which reflects
inflationary pressures, to adjust government
benefits such as Social Security. Economists
believe inflation will remain muted and expect
the U.S. economy to slow in response to
recent global financial instability.
