Mr. Greg Strong reports
Calian Technology has recently been awarded two contracts by the Department
of National Defence totalling $6.4-million to provide technical and related
professional services.
The first contract is a standing offer for one year with two option years bringing
the total possible value of the contract to $1.4-million. The contract is to provide
specialists in the information management field to support the software
development centre for One Canadian Air Division (I CAD) in Aerospace &
Telecommunications Engineering Support Squadron (ATESS) at CFB Trenton.
ATESS has the mandate from ICAD to develop and support the operational
software for the Canadian Airforce. Calian now provides software support and
management for the operational (ATESS) and maintenance (AMMIS/ADAM)
software for the Canadian Airforce.
The second contract worth approximately $5-million with all option years
exercised is the fourth consecutive contract that Calian has won, since June of
1988, to provide program management and technical services in support of the
fully privatized Canadian Forces CF-18 Liaison Office. The office is in close
proximity to the Naval Air Systems Command in Arlington, Va. Calian provides a
turnkey liaison office consisting of the facilities, materials and technical services
required to interact daily with the U.S. Navy, other international customers, and
industry. Calian's responsibilities encompass a broad range of services including
policy review and analysis; technical investigations including engineering,
operational and logistics activities; and administrative staff functions.
