Paris, Nov. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Pfizer's impotence drug
Viagra has set a record for sales of a new drug in France in
the first three weeks of its launch, beating the anti-
depressant Prozac, said Liberation, citing Alain Jardin, the
Head of Urology at Kremlin-Bicetre in Val-de-Marne, southeast
of Paris. By Nov. 7, three weeks after its debut in French
pharmacies, Pfizer said it sold 40,000 pills, corresponding to
34,000 medical prescriptions. General Practitioners prescribed
75 percent, with specialists, mainly urologists, prescribing
the remainder, the report said.

Viagra, which is available in French pharmacies at 75
francs ($13) per pill, is not refunded by French social
security and is available only on prescription to men over the
age of 18 in dosages of 25, 50 and 100mg.
