Thread,

Below is taken from Bernie Schaeffer's website dated 11/17/98:

Pfizer (PFE - 108-15/16) – Time Is On Their Side
The pharmaceutical manufacturer of the drug craze that swept the nation, Viagra, announced that Time Warner (TWX - 97-5/16) is set to publish an issue of Time magazine with PFE as its sole sponsor. This allegedly marks the first time the magazine has had a single sponsor for a regularly scheduled issue. On the options front, 1,133 contracts traded at the December 115 call yesterday, with over 98% of the contracts going off at or near the ask price.

Zoloft as well as other SSRI antidepressants have a tendency to wear off over time, requiring changing to another SSRI e.g. Paxil, Effexor, Prozac. This does not usually occur with other classes of antidepressants e.g. tricyclics (imipramine, nortryptilene) and atypical (Wellbutrin). Do the studies differentiate between emergence of a new depression after stopping meds and a rebound depression caused by stopping the meds? Also, long term use of antidepressants is not a new feature and has been included in treatment protocols for many years to prevent kindling effects secondary to the frequent starting and stopping of antidepressant medications in the treatment of chronic or frequently recurring bouts of depression.
