I can't give you an very long answer because I have only spent 5 hours using Metastock today and am still unsure if it will meet all of my expectations, but so far so good. I spent about 3 months making up my mind on what program to get. I decided not to go with the new live versions of these programs (e.g MetastockPro) because I have heard nothing but complaints from users.

Since I wanted a lot of feedback from the net, wanted to be able to use scan files written by other people, and get help on creating my own scan files I only considered the most popular T.A programs (e.g Windows for Wallstreet, Metastock, advanced GET, TC2000, Tradestation). I have been following 10 of the most popular technical analysis threads for the past couple of months and most of them use one of the five programs I just mentioned. I read everything I could get my hands on about the programs. I sent private messages to several of the regular users of these programs and got back very helpful replies (thanks to everyone).

Advanced GET and Tradestation were too expensive and didn't provide a lot of extra features for the price increase (+1500 Can.)

Although TC2000's price was right I got a lot of negative feedback from users about flexibility of the scans and the chart features.

It was a coin toss between Windows on Wallstreet and Metastock. Since I had already tried out a demo version of Metastock and found a lot of helpful people on the net who use it I decided it was a buy. I purchased it directly from the company equis.com. They offer a 60 day money back guarantee and the program cost $350 U.S. The biggest problem is finding the best data source for Canadian companies at this point. Finding the right data source is almost as hard as finding the right program.

I can comment on Supercharts because I didn't do a lot of research into it. However I haven't seen a lot of people using it on the net.

Hope this helps

Best Regards
KEITH
