CobaltBlue,

Do a "people" search on a common name, say "Mary" or "John". A bunch of aliases will show up. Using <click> and <back> you can then traverse the entire list and see what the most recent post is for each alias that you <click> on.

BIG HINT: The aliases are sorted by most recent post, so the "abandoned" names will be towards the bottom of the list.

It's the interesting abandoned profiles you want - the ones I find most interesting are the scamsters, the hypesters of non-reporting bulletin board stocks, along with the suckers they pulled in. Easy to find - just nip back into the archives of any scam thread - gifs, mtei, ovis, rmil, sexi, there are many. This poster, for instance, started the SI sexi thread Member 1197712

Lots of posters who don't get around much any more

CobaltBlue,

I don't use the alphabetic approach. What I do is I go to a thread that I'm following, and start reading from the first post. For each poster that I find, I click on their name, and see if they're abandoned or not. I think that this works best on the older threads, and on threads where there has been a big pump and dump or some other type of scam. I have never tested this hypothesis out by doing any kind of survey of course, so this is my gut feel.

There are several reasons why the scam stocks have lots of abandoned posters. First of all, on a couple of the threads some suckers were lured into leaving SI, and went to Raving Bull. Then we have the exposed scammers who either get kicked off SI, or use a new ID when posting. Sometimes an ID is created purely for specific purpose, such as posting misleading information, or for smearing someone. There's lots of good digging on these threads.

Regards,
John Sladek
