DELL- "Great company Good Stock"-Says Merrill Lynch (Report 11/13/98).

Good morning Sig:

I know we know this already but this is what Merrill Lynch said about DELL in a report issued on the 13th right after Q3 earnings.I will just highlight some points that came to my attention.I thought the first 3 points merit close attention as these points could be the key to the company's success. These are some of the facts, I think, that any investor, potential investor or even the 'enemy'(including the 'emulators')should consider when making their 'moves',whatever that may be.

Source:(courtesy) Merril Lynch-Excerpts only

1)"Dell has everything we like in a tech company, especially the focus and the opportunity to move in to higher-margin segments.

2)Dell should increasingly be viewed as an internet company albeit one with earnings

3)DELL'S DIRECT PROPOSITION IS SIMPLE AS ALL GREAT STRATEGIES ARE,but the devil is in the details. Dell's infrastructure and service are important advantages.

4)Management suggested an improving expense ratio in F2000 thanks to the internet efficiencies.

5)Q3 earnings-The net margin at all an time high a pleasant surprise
but the revenue could have been a bit better.

6)We believe the stock isn't as attractive as the company at this valuation. Assuming no significant changes in fundamentals, though, we think 55X our F2000 estimate of $1.45 is warranted.

7)Intermediate term rating-Accumulate

8)Long term rating-BUY

9)EPS Estimate 99=$1.07, 00=$1.45

10)Objective price=$80.00"

Sig,
Having trouble sending messages. Second attempt.

Lost a giant western hemlock,, 120 feet tall. About 60 feet left. Maybe some growth will come back. Bad, ugly winds up here.

Agree with you on Dell, it is meat and potatoes security.

Should probably buy some YHOO or AMZN in very small quantities.
