>>You're all too busy worshipping at the feet of Michael Bearke - the one true money maker in this here world.<<

paul, i'm willing to make the first step to put a stop to this nonsense personal stuff. i hope you can follow up.

i like mike b/c he presents the underlying analysis of why he believes what he believes and not so i can worship the one true money maker. i can use this information to add to my current thinking, build upon or discard. my favorite long stock, swtx, is one that mike doesn't like. i don't need to insult him b/c he doesn't like my favorite stock. or compare portfolios (i'd lose big, anyway! ;-)

in fact, i appreciate anybody's underlying analysis. the more perspectives one gets the better decisions they make.

i disagree with some stuff and i agree with other stuff. at least i know where he stands, right or wrong. at this point a decent debate can then begin.

what doesn't add value, imho, are statements like "the stock went up yesterday or last month so you guys are dopes." what value does that add? give us some underlying paradigms as to why intel will keep growing throw 1999 and beyond. back it up with facts. intel will make 28 million processors this q - equal to a 20% increase in boxes sold over last year all by itself. throw in amd and cyrix and you have some serious growth at the end user level needed to support current earnings.

what will cause boxes to begin growing at 40% this q (compared to last year) when they have been growing under 20% for quite some time?

do you have any cogent thoughts regarding the issues? that is much, much more valuable than telling everyone how rich you are. i don't think any of us here are poor (maybe grim ;-). that being said, we are all doing ok - some of us are doing very, very well. if it is better or worse than you that doesn't mean we, as people, are better or worse than you. just different.

real value in life doesn't come from buying intel at 7 cents or bagging a 10 bagger on cmb puts in three months. sure, if you are poor that would be very nice to do so you could put food on the table. everyone here has food on the table. that is monetary value, not life value. life value is MUCH more important.

just something to ponder. if you have anything to add to the y2k affect on the pc market we'd all be glad to hear it. i was undecided as to whether y2k would help or hinder box sales as of a couple months ago. my belief that budgets aren't unlimited and that certain software related expenses - and very large expenses at that - are a necessity now leads me to believe that hardware may hit a cold streak at some point in 1999. this would be something prudent to consider for the avg investor. i have nothing against buying intel - at the right price.

i posted earlier that a radio program said 3/4 of all companies had y2k game plans while 1/5 actually had budgets. the reason they don't have budgets, imho, is they don't easy money to allocate to them. hard money is VERY difficult to spend. what is your take?

skeets.

ps - all my current investments are long now. does that surprise you? it shouldn't. i hope to buy puts on the amzns, nvls' and mu's of the world pretty soon. why? imho, business doesn't support their current valuation. btw, what is your current fair value for intel and why? tia...

Paul, the reason people like Mike is that he is smart, and witty, and well-educated, and fun to be with. Think of this thread as a salon, a forum, maybe like the Algonquin Club. It's ok to insult the other guests as long as you are witty, and don't cross over the line. On the other hand, it is simply bad form to insult the host. Insulting the host gets you thrown out of any place worth being in. OK?
