Peter your situation is the most absurd to date I have ever heard. Now we have to worry that if we cover our short sales some sinister being is going to cover it again and place you in a situation that you are long a stock. Have we totally lost control of our accounts. Peter notice that datek passed the blame to someone else once again. (the clearinghouse} When you sell or buy a stock that transaction is done. Settlement day is for the settlement of funds. When I buy and sell my acct instantly reflects this activity in my portfolio. Is there a seperate portfolio that they keep to screw customers that haven"t been screwed sufficiently. Is there someone sitting in a room saying look at Peter what nerve, he coverd his short position before we could screw him for an extra 10k. Dont worry lets cover it again so hes now long a stock he wants to be short. This can only happen in Datekland. Please keep us informed Peter this is the biggest crock of s%^& to date. When I say this i'm refering to them buying you in after you already cover. Is Mr Richter now telling the masses that the trades we make are bogus until settlement date and any of our transactions can be duplicated and reversed to put us in positions opposite of where we want to be. This new phenomenon will be of interest to many Datek customers who have trouble sleeping already.

I hope you get some retribution for this Peter. You can look on the bright side that given how few shares trade on TTF during the day, at least they didn't jack up the price even higher!! ;-)

I think the fun and games are with Datek. I just noticed that two of the internut stocks I like to trade both long and short (CMGI and DCLK) are now no longer shortable!!! It is clear that they are really cracking down on letting shorts out. That leaves little reason to put up with the crap Datek gives us!
