Addi, now that you have returned to the Sun thread I know the Sun rally is for real. It seems as though your foresight on Sun and computing expressed well over a year or 2 ago has finally been validated.

Monday evening at Comdex Larry Ellison gave a very interesting talk on Oracle's new 8i database which he says works great on Solaris but will bypass Microsoft's windows NT 5 or 2000 on Intel's merced altogether. Instead Oracle has come up with its own kernel, something called raw iron, which is sufficient to run oracle 8i on.
The reason for this, according to Ellison, is that the Intel merced chip is 64 bit and will be hopelessly slowed down by NT 5 which will be only 32 bit and too unstable. Here is a link to the webcast: zdnet.com

Now if we can only get your wisdom on LSI to be equally manifest.

All the best,
Michael

Dear Addi: So what do you predict for SUNW share price near term--and one year out? I am thinking $70 maybe even by end of today and $100+ by end of calendar 1999. Do you think I am in the ballpark, under or over? JDN
