TNT also has OpenGL drivers out, and better Linux support according to my roommate, who's a Linux expert. He bought a TNT for use on his new computer, and has been very pleased with it so far. There is a beta Accelerated-X driver for it.

When I get the other parts for my Linux box, I'll probably pick up a TNT too. Whether I'll put it in my Win98/gaming system, or in the Linux box will be determined by the X-Windows driver support and OpenGL support.

Is there anyone on this board with Linux or X-Windows experience who has used both the TNT and the Banshee?

Still, for OEM computers none of this matters. OEM sales are IMHO for gaming only. Folks who know how to install Linux also know how to put their own computer together. So, this won't be affecting 3dfx's new target market.

Cheers,
Tim "Still long, but gripping about the drivers like Grandmaster B" Burnett
