I checked out the active trader today. It's very nice. I'm impressed, I wasn't expecting it to be so comprehensive. It's not a replacement for RTIII but it's not that far behind, and in many ways better.

I love having the realtime news. What would be nice is to include breifing.com inplay on one of the tabs. I didn't like that it crashed my computer, but it's new. I also didn't like that I couldn't filter the streaming news. I really don't care about sports scores and such. And having to launch a webpage to place an order is clumsy and slow.

But, it's a great start and I like it. Almost (not quite) makes up for the horrendous customer non-service from etrade. However, I would still not use it to daytrade due to the horrible executions you get, especially from NITE - be it limit or market. I will continue to use ETrade for position trading at least for awhile (still hoping they do something about executions).

What interests me the most is, along with this slick Java App, the announcement that MSFT must modify their code to comply with Sun's java specs. The Java world is becoming a reality a lot quicker than I thought. Someone please tell me who will have the most popular Java OS in 5 years. I want to invest in that company now. ;)
