Java has a lot of promise. At the moment neither MSFT nor SUNW are serving the effort. I think an OSS version which allowed open innovation would probably be the best way to keep it on track but McNealy won't let that happen because its a handy weapon for him. A lot of folks who believe in JAVA are saying 'a pox on both their houses'.
