Ericsson sees continued growth, acquisitions

Reuters Story - November 18, 1998 14:56

NEW YORK, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Ericsson expects to see continued strong growth and expects to continue to make acquisitions to fill in gaps in its North American product portfolio, said Bo Dimert, head of Ericsson's North American operations.

"We're committed to long-term growth and we will grow faster than the market average...at an average rate of 20 percent a year," Dimert told investors and analysts at the Warburg Dillon Read Telecom Conference in New York.

Dimert said systems for network operators currently represent 60 percent of company sales and should see its sales growing in excess of 20 percent a year.

Products for enterprise solutions, which typically targets large corporations, represents 10 percent of Ericsson sales and should see future sales growth of 10 to 15 percent, he said.

The consumer business represents 25 percent of the company sales and should see sales growth in excess of 20 percent, he said.

Dimert also reiterated that Ericsson plans to continue its North American acquisition strategy of investing in small companies or buying niche companies to expand its product portfolio.

"We're focused on small to medium-sized businesses to compliment our existing base," he said.
