Click on start

Choose settings & task bar

click on the start menu programs tab

choose the advanced button

locate the start menu folder in which the application shortcut resides

right click on the shortcut icon and drag it to the desk top somewhere

When you release the right mouse button, choose copy.

Hi Tech: here are two methods.Second method is easier imho.

To put a shortcut on the desktop

1 Click the item, such as a file, program, folder, printer, or computer, that you want to create a shortcut to.

2 On the File menu, click Create Shortcut.
3 Drag the shortcut icon onto the desktop.

OR #2
1 Right click any where on desktop
2 Click "new"
3 Click "shortcut"on list
4 CLICK Browse C:for program you want shortcut to
5 Look for exe.file
6 Highlight exe.file
7 Double click exe.file
8 Follow directions at bottom
