DENVER, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Optical Security Group, Inc.
(Nasdaq: OPSC), today announced that it has been named as the exclusive
supplier of anti-counterfeiting labels to Turner/Time Warner's World
Championship Wrestling (WCW). This relationship was facilitated through WCW's
exclusive licensing agent, Leisure Concepts, Inc., a division of 4Kids
Entertainment (Nasdaq: KIDE).
"OpSec is pleased to have been chosen as the official supplier to WCW,"
said Ed Dietrich, President of OpSec US. He added, "OpSec has taken a
leadership role in the protection of licensed products throughout the world.
Our anti-counterfeit programs now protect the leading sports and entertainment
licensees in North America, South America and Europe, and we are honored to
add WCW to our list of prestigious clients."
"WCW is one of the fastest-growing licensed properties in the country
right now," said Casey Collins, Licensing Manager for WCW. He added,
"Unfortunately, there are a lot of people trying to illegally capitalize on
our success by stealing our wrestlers' images and logos. Counterfeit
merchandise not only takes away royalties from our wrestlers, but the inferior
quality of merchandise is a threat to the entire WCW/nWo brand. In order to
protect our wrestlers' images and maintain the integrity of the license, WCW
has initiated a program called 'No Knock Off' to assure our fans that they're
purchasing genuine WCW/nWo merchandise. This anti-counterfeiting program will
include several levels of security devices intended to authenticate WCW/nWo
products to fans, retailers and law enforcement."
Collins added, "We're excited to add OpSec as our latest weapon against
counterfeiters. OpSec's holographic hangtags, holographic labels and woven
labels with security features are another powerful step to protect WCW from
counterfeiters, OpSec's security devices will provide even more ammunition for
WCW's investigators to arrest counterfeiters and prosecute them to the fullest
extent of the law."
"The importance of this program is both to the customer, as well as to the
licensee," commented Carlin West, Vice President Marketing, LCI. She added,
"The licensee needs to be assured that the brand has integrity and is not
being offered by unlicensed manufacturers. This program will give them that
assurance."
OpSec is a leading provider of imaging technology and optical coatings,
which are employed in tamper-evident packaging labels; authenticating labels;
threads and tags for branded product protection and for authentication of
critical machine parts and pharmaceuticals. OpSec's laminates and security
foils are used to protect against counterfeiting of documents of value, checks
and cards.
