You know, TEDennis and I had a very similar experience in the early days of FBN. I was hiking up in the red rocks of Arizona when I came across this guy kind of just sitting there, next to a Harley, mumbling something like "this is all going to be mine someday." I said "Excuse me?" and we struck up a conversation.

TED told me how one day he would get so super-rich that he would be able to afford to build a huge house on that very site. I said something about "environmental impact" and, well, to make a long story short, we limped off to the local tavern together to drink away the pain of our fisticuffs.

I mentioned to TED about this guy Kevin I knew and how he was friends with the Pope and was sure whatever he did would be blessed by the pontiff. TED said he could think of 2000 things he wanted to have blessed and, as two programmers, the idea for a Y2K Compiler just sort of clicked. I happened to have some similar code I had written with me and so did TED which he thought was better than mine, and, to make a long story short, a few broken chairs and bottles later we decided to form FBN.

That night TED and I banged out FBN Compiler 2000. The next morning we started recruiting our friends to join. By evening we had purchased our first copier and had produced several hundred FBN certificates. We were in business!

Ahhh... for the old days.
