Tom, It sure is a nice thought. Remember these are cyclical stocks
and one day will rebound nicely. It is difficult holding this while
other stocks are going up, but one never knows timing. ALSC certainly
is a buy at these levels, if one has confidence in its ability to
survive this downturn and return to profitability. I particularly
bought into ALSC (all below 10) because they have virtually no debt
and should survive until the next up cycle, if they can keep overhead
down. The USC investment is working out OK, sales seem to be very
soft but memory prices are firming, and I hope their low power, high
speed devices find their way into some notebooks. This company was
founded over 10 yrs ago and survived 1987 and 1991. It knows how to
hang on. I do worry about die shrink at the big boys cutting into
any memory shortage that occurs, but we'll have to see how fast they
can respond.
