That was a terrific response from B. Sure helps to make this
tyro understand more about the cost of overburden management.
I've never seen it explained so thoroughly before.

Yes, it would be interesting to know if there are significant
differences in diamond/gold mining. I think, though, one needs
to keep clear that the comparison has to be

gold strip mining/diamond strip mining
gold hard rock mining/diamond hard rock mining

My understanding from following the NWT diamond play is that
diamond mining is less expensive under their conditions because
kimberlite is a relatively benign waste. It doesn't contain
significant amounts of acid. You end up with what is a large
amount of sand. Of course, where you are operating with heavy
overburden, you have a different situation. As B. says the Alberta
situation does not provide nice carrot shaped pipes like in the
models.

Atthis stage, as investors, we just have to putthe stock in a drawer
and wait. The process is always slower when people are learning
as they go. When diamond exploration was beginning one of the
problems was that people kept trying to apply the SA model.
Didn't work. They had to start and build up their own. They're
ahead inthe NWT in that regard. Steep learning curve. Alberta's
in the same process. We need smarts, knowledge and luck. Smarts
I think we've got, knowledge is coming and luck--well,we can all
buy our favorite charm.
