I used to use ATI cards. They are a breeze to set up, but some of the games will not run on them. At least they used to did not (I don't know about now). It really depends on what you want to do with the card. I do digital imaging as a hobby so 2D speed is very important for me. So I bought a Banshee from Guillemot for $80 or $90 (after rebate). But if that is too expensive, try one of the Matrox cards. BTW, ATI service and support is great, whereas I don't know about Matrox. Something to consider.
