Gw, good post. I think the biggest myth in this e-commerce frenzy is that 90% of the world has or will have, a PC to stay home and go Internet shopping. Forrester research and the boston consulting group, etc, poll all the yuppies and the on-line retailers, and asks them about their customers going forward, buying trends. What do you expect them to say?
Buy Wal-Mart! The blue collar consumers love it and the last time I checked they represented 78% of the buying public.
Now Wall Street would love us to believe that Chanel, Tiffiniy's, Anne Taylor is where the consumers are going.
When the results come in, I'll bet the average consumer is not sitting around their PC addicted to buying a commodity on-line.
Only us yuppies will. Why? To get the touch feel and experience.l
Did you know that only 7% of the elite buy coca cola?
